CASE STUDY
It started as just a promotional video.
When we were approached to do this project, we were just finishing a feature film titled, "Power of Pearl." There were a lot of emotions swirling and what happened was something amazing. We don't just do promotional videos, "Second Chance On The Caprock," the DCER story, is an award-winning short film that continues to screen internationally.
The Story
Laurie Higgins owns and operates a small horse rescue near Canyon, TX. She approached GrandScape Creative with a story of loss, rebirth, and hope. While grieving after the passing of her husband, she found solace in a herd of horses. She decided that since they saved her, she would save them. Thus, Dove Creek Equine Rescue was born.
The Plan
After hearing Laurie's story, we knew this wasn't going to be your average promotional video.
We knew stories like these have the potential to win awards.
Laurie needed a new website, high-quality photos, and video.
We made a short documentary film structured in a way that would allow potential donors to connect to the message and the work of DCER without needing to watch the entire video in one viewing. The final film ended up being 13 minutes and 25 seconds.
Attention spans are just getting shorter, so we created a structure that allowed us to break the film into four different parts: "Her Story," "The Daily Routine," "Horses Healing People" and "Call To Action." We were also able to create 13 staff videos which totaled in 18 videos for Laurie.
More content means more engagement.

Festival Screenings
Through our network and relationships in independent film—our team premiered and toured "Second Chance" for Laurie in festivals around the world. We were able to give her story validation and notoriety with an award-winning film.
